BPO (BENZOYL PEROXIDE)

Benzoyl Peroxide penetrates the oil in the follicle releasing oxygen into the lower levels of the follicle causing the P. ances bacteria to die as it can only live where no oxygen is present.

Overuse of BPO can cause hyperpigmentation of the skin and so the Acne TX mask (10%) must be used only under the guidance of the clinical professional and in consultation. The Acne TX mask at low concentration, (2.5%) is available as a home use product.

SALICYLIC ACID

A beta hydroxy acid (BHA) occurs naturally in sweet birch and wintergreen leaves. Topical application of this salicylic acid on a daily basis in low (1-2%) concentrations promotes regular, even exfoliation.

Home care products we recommend are from 2-5% (Beta Hydroxy Cleanser 2%)(Clarifying Pads 5%) and are formulated with antioxidants and hydrating ingredients.

Salicylic Acid Professional Treatments are used at ADS Laser Clinic in a more concentrated form and acts as an exfoliation agent and even as a peel.
